About Sierra Heirloom

Sierra Heirloom is a small Northern California workshop creating personalized cutting boards, charcuterie boards, beer flights, and gifts designed to be used, displayed, and remembered.

Every piece starts with premium bamboo or walnut and is made one at a time in our shop. We cut, shape, sand, engrave, finish, and package each board ourselves — not in a fulfillment warehouse and not by sending the work to a third-party personalization company.

That hands-on process is a big part of what makes Sierra Heirloom different.

We make gifts for weddings, new homes, closing days, anniversaries, birthdays, cabins, families, businesses, and plenty of occasions that don't fit neatly into a category. Many of our designs are personalized with names, dates, hometowns, coordinates, logos, or places that mean something to the person receiving them.

Made in Northern California

Our boards are milled, cut, engraved, sanded, finished, and shipped from our Northern California workshop.

We work primarily with bamboo and walnut, choosing each material for its durability, natural beauty, and ability to become something uniquely personal. From state-shaped cutting boards and Lake Tahoe boards to monograms, home designs, beer flights, and custom corporate gifts, each piece is made and finished here in our shop.

Our bamboo material is sourced internationally, while the craftsmanship happens here in Northern California. We believe in being straightforward about where our materials come from and where the work is done rather than relying on vague origin claims.

From Raw Material to a Finished Gift

A Sierra Heirloom piece goes through a lot more than simply being engraved.

Depending on the design, we machine the shape, smooth the edges, sand the surface, engrave the personalization, apply the appropriate finish, inspect the finished piece, and prepare it for shipping.

It's a process we have refined around one simple goal: when someone opens the box, the piece should feel like it was made specifically for them — because it was.

Personal Gifts Should Feel Personal

There are plenty of places to buy a cutting board.

What we enjoy making are the pieces people give because they represent something: the state someone came from, the lake where a family spends its summers, a couple's wedding date, a first home, a family name, or a business relationship worth recognizing.

Those details turn a useful object into something people tend to keep.
